Here are some Russian’s using US military satellites for communication, similar to their Brazilian counterparts 😉

Here is a very rough summary of the comms: The stations discuss their equipment and activities for satcom radio communication. One operator mentions using a 15-watt power with a double cross antenna on their apartment’s windowsill (possibly in Khabarovsk). They talked about Youth Day celebrations and fishing. They also talk about FLT-8, currently positioned above Australia, and communication the day prior with someone over in Kazakhstan. They mention using an SDR to locate transponders and mention some other satellites such as UFO-4, FLT-5, and UFO-11. The conversation also touched on the challenge of communication with distant regions like Moscow and St. Petersburg due to limited elevation angles.

266.850: Russian telephone traffic from the Pacific Region. I understand this may be the Altai mobile telephone system still used in some rural parts of Russia. You can hear similar activity on 266.950 as well.

Logged some Russian satcom pirates last month on 262.275. This seems to be one of their favorite frequencies to use lately.

Occasional test counts and lots of “priyoms” and some broken English.

This time I thought it sounded like a Chinese station on 256.950?

Continuing to hear activity just about every day now. Here is some broken sounding English from the station.

I also heard the same guy on 263.625.

On 266.850 it’s not uncommon to hear Russian telephones. On most nights this can be monitored from the west coast on UHF SATCOM with the antenna pointed to the PAC region. I am only able to hear one side of the conversation.
