The Chinese oddity station is back. Token reported a couple days ago that the station was on 6326 in USB mode. It’s the same Chinese oddity station that was monitored last week on 5449. So far it’s been noted at the following times: 0900, 1100, 1300, 1500, 1700 UTC. From the west coast the best shot of hearing this is usually during the 1100 and 1300 transmissions.

5449 Chinese Oddity

Recently logged a new Chinese oddity station on 5449 kHz USB with a female voice repeating numbers. I first logged this on Sept 28, 2011 at 1300 UTC. Since then it has been heard during other “odd numbered” hours including 0900, 1100, 1500 and 1700 UTC by various folks. As for what purpose this station serves… it remains a mystery for now. Below is an audio clip of this strange transmission as heard from my location in Southern California.

Just caught a Spanish language numbers station on 11182 kHz USB. This is the same station logged last month on 12182 kHz. Station was already in progress with female voice giving 5 figure groups and sign off with 000 000. The signal was about 20 over S9 here in California.

Stumbled across this Spanish language numbers station on 12182 kHz USB at 0528z. Transmission was already in progress with a female reading 5 figure groups in Spanish and signed off with 000 000.

Hazlett from #wunclub translated the following: “53202 88582 77323 10263 38567 44715 73774 60569 20680 000 000”. It was suggested it might be V07 but not 100% sure. Any ideas?

Here is a brief audio clip from the last minute of the transmission.

With band conditions improving, I have been getting up early to catch stations from Asia and the Pacific. This morning I was listening to the Chinese numbers station (V26) transmitting on 7553 kHz in USB mode. I also heard them last week on 9153 kHz USB. The Enigma Control List shows 4283, 9054 and a few other frequencies V26 has been reported on. Best time to listen here on the west coast is between 1300 and 1400 Zulu.

Audio clip monitored from California on March 28, 2011.

The Vietnamese numbers station has returned on 10255 kHz USB. The station was first reported early last year on the IRC channel #wunclub and was active until September 2010. It can usually be monitored here on the west coast starting at 1600z. A well respected UTE monitor that goes by the handle “Token” has been following the Vietnamese station closely and has compiled a wealth of information on his website: VTN, the Vietnamese Numbers Station

For those interested, below is an audio clip from this morning’s broadcast.

This morning I logged a Korean language numbers station on 6730 kHz in AM mode. Searching online it was found this is V24 and is believed to transmit from South Korea. Here is an audio clip of the transmission as heard from my location in Southern California.

Tuning the 10 MHz band in the pre-dawn hours, I stumbled across an interesting numbers station on 10522. After some research and great help from the folks at the UDXF group, it was determined this is likely the New Star Broadcasting Station (Enigma V13) possibly from Taiwan. Both the Numbers & Oddities newsletter and this website contain excellent info about the station. I have also attached the audio recording for your listening pleasure.
